sexuality: He's straight, pretty much. Dante's not unwilling to bend his own sexual preferences toward those who will surrender their attentions to him. He doesn't discriminate when it comes to one of the easiest pleasures in life.

appearance: Dante, in the human sense, is a big guy. He's tall, square at the shoulders, and built like a tank. He uses most of his muscle power for athletics such as darting up walls and wielding his sword, Rebellion, which is nearly his height. In a demonic sense, he's like a puppy that hasn't yet grown into his paws. He still retains a few traits of a gangly teenager.

His Mom would say that he has his Dad's features, but he would say that he has his Mom's. He does have his father's pale hair, usually kept short, loose and scruffy, hanging to the base of his neck. He's clean shaven, usually bearing his ear to ear grin. He has fangs that are usually only visible when he's angry, otherwise they're hidden behind his lips.

On his shoulders is his trademark red leather jacket, complete with a studded rockstar shoulder strap. It has two tails that hang to the back of his knees, while the collar is split into two separate zippers, which are obviously rather for show than functionality. Under it, he doesn't wear anything else but his brown leather pants and steel-toe boots. He always looks like he's ready for a party.

personality: Torn between his human logic and demonic instincts, Dante never feels as if he's truly one or the other. He's lived his entire life in the human world, abiding by human regulations and norms. His life as a half-breed never seems to bother him, and he never talks about it. Instead, he gets defensive when it's mentioned, either changing the subject abruptly or bristling like a feline and growling until it's dropped. He has a tendency to run from things he doesn't want to handle, usually things of extreme personal importance, and either ignore them or pretend that they don't exist. He doesn't like dealing with people when he doesn't want to, and will openly tell off anyone who he believes is bothering him.

Otherwise, Dante is a pretty laid back guy. There are a lot of things that he can usually take with a grain of salt. When his sore points are hit, he angers easily. There are times when he's rash, and he always jumps to conclusions. He assumes things, and runs into most situations head-first and without thinking. His philosophy on battle usually runs along the "shoot it until it falls" category. Unless he's tempered, he will run off a cliff or into traffic, getting carried away with whatever he's doing. He's recklessly suicidal, and will take any risk he can possibly can. He loves cheap thrills.

On the other hand, he's incredibly social, and loves to be the center of attention. He's selfish, careless and a downright prick at times. He acts with casual nonchalance when being addressed, and usually pretends not to pay attention just to piss someone off. He does as little work as possible if he's disinterested, and tends to laze off if he doesn't feel like doing a certain task. However, when he's presented with a mission, he's incredibly dedicated and impossible to deter. When it comes to the people he cares about, he's selfless, and will do anything to make them feel better when there's a problem. He's pure in the fact that when he feels an emotion, it's never laced with complications. When he gets pissed, he's purely pissed, when he's sad, he's sad, there's hardly ever mixed feelings, and instead a single intense one. He never truly gets close to people, even though he can easily surround himself with a group of acquaintances, he keeps himself distant.

abilities: Name the weapon, and Dante can use it. His range includes uzis and nunchaku, but he's particularly fond of long swords and .50 caliber automatics. His girls, Ebony and Ivory, were made for him specifically by Neil Goldstein, an old woman who ran a gunshop that he was once acquainted with. He can pull the trigger of an automatic so fast, that the barrel jams. If it can be wielded, Dante will find out how to do it.

He has a knack for acrobatics, scaling buildings and dodging blows. It comes from his own ingrain abilities as a demon, which also include his Devil Trigger, the ability to turn into a demon for a short amount of time. His abilities become enhanced, before he is unable to hold his form anymore and his powers recede. In Cloverfield, he becomes exhausted after using his Devil Trigger. He also loses his ability to heal himself, and can no longer take any mortal blows, less he be killed.

weaknesses: He's unable to let go of his mother's death. Ever since he was little, even though it wasn't in his power to do so, he always blamed himself for not saving her. It was the same way that it was so easy for him to blame his father for not being there, and even for Vergil, who was abducted when their mother was killed. He holds a vendetta against his father, less so now than before his encounter with Vergil, but the wound is still sore. He has a soft spot for women, and while this is properly where a few of his more delectable womanizing habits came from, he will still go to great lengths to make sure that any woman under his care ("that he knows") is safe.

There's also his immaturity to account for. He doesn't necessarily take many things that bother him with grace, especially when they happen to grate against his own personal vendettas. When it comes to his family, he has a short fuse.

Dante's most prominent weakness is the way he fights like he has a death wish. He's recklessly suicidal in the face of danger, putting far too much confidence in his own abilities. He doesn't seem to care one way or another if he dies, and instead seems to get a thrill out of fighting things that are larger than him. One day he's going to get himself killed.

"i just don't like you, that's all"

Dante was born to the demon antenor Sparda, and the mortal woman Eva. Two-thousand years in the past, Sparda stood against Hell's armies in the war for the human world. He eventually defeated and sealed his opponents, settling down, disappearing, and later becoming legend. Dante holds a great legacy behind him as the son of those who remembered Sparda.

His father raised him briefly before he left both Dante, and his twin brother Vergil, in their mother's care. Unbeknownst to him and his brother, their mother spent her days keeping them out of harms way. Because of Sparda's treachery to the demon world, there were many that meant to hunt and kill his kin. Finally, the demons caught up with them. Their town, and their sanctuary was burned to the ground. Eva was tortured, mutilated and left for dead. Vergil was dragged from the house, split from his family and taken elsewhere. Dante, who kept himself hidden, was the last one left.

From there he learned to take care of himself, taking the pseudonym "Tony Redgrave" for a few years to avoid detection from the demons that were searching for "Dante, Son of Sparda." (It was much less conspicuous!) After the death of some of his closest friends, and being named one of the first Devil Hunters in existence, he opened shop. Jobs came in from a portly little Italian man named Enzo, who kept a jacket on Dante's back and pizza on his desk.

He was confronted later by his brother, Vergil, who he had assumed dead after the raid on his family. They met twice, once as Dante was following a girl named Alice down the rabbit hole; and second, when Vergil rose the tower Temen-ni-Gru, the gate to Hell. Manipulated by a self-created demon named Arkham, they fought each other like they enjoyed it. To gain the power of Sparda, Vergil used all means necessary, and following after him was Dante, who was just looking for a good fight.

It wasn't until he talked to Mary (who later named herself Lady, after what Dante called her) about family that the weight of his own responsibilities fell on his shoulders. During the last show down with Arkham, Dante and Vergil teamed up, and using their combined powers, vanquished him. After that, they fought in the world between Hell and Earth. Dante, finally understanding what his duty was, defeating Vergil, and then unable to save him as he fell into Hell.
